The goal of IMFR is to eradicate polio which fleshes out the global ambition of Rotary:

After twenty years of hard work Rotary and their partners are close to obliterate polio from this planet. The end is so close but there is still an enormous effort to be made to conquer this disease completely. We have the one-time historical chance.

The donated and collected money is going to help Rotary to raise 200 million Dollars to fulfil the defiance of the Bill & Melinda Foundation who mobilized 355 million Dollars.
The resulting sum of 555 million Dollars will directly be used for immunization campaigns against polio in developing countries.
